12 Ways to Spend Your Saturday Morning in Sydney

For all the students looking for fun, adventurous things to do, here are 15 suggestions to get you out of bed this Saturday morning!

 

1. Go to the Bondi Farmers Markets

Held every Saturday from 9AM-1PM, Bondi Farmers Market is full of food for the soul. Renowned for its fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables, organically grown meat and poultry, vibrant flowers, warm artisan breads, rustic homemade jams, farmstead cheeses, sustainably sourced seafood including fish, prawns, lobster and an array of cooking essentials like olive oils, herbs and spices – Bondi Farmers Market is the best place to kick-start your Saturday morning. Grab a coffee and support Australian local farmers and producers, and enjoy some organic, and ethically sourced sustainable food.

2. Go to Parramatta Winterlight

Skate, eat and play at Parramatta Winterlight this Saturday morning! Get your friends and family together and step out for a jam packed morning of ice-skating at Sydney’s biggest open-air rink. Glide across inches of frozen ice on skates, rush down the 28-metre ice slide on a toboggan, take a ride on the illuminated Ferris wheel or enjoy the range of side show alley games. 3. Take a Yoga Class in Newton

Yoga – the healing practice of combing your mind, body and spirit – is a popular relaxation technique that helps people unwind after a long week (perfect after a week of classes and studying). Including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of body movements, Yoga is widely practised for improved health and mindfulness.  Popular non-for profit charity Lentil as Anything hosts community based yoga classes every Saturday morning from 8:30AM – 10AM.   Adopting the “pay as you feel” mantra to yoga, participants are encouraged to donate a gold coin donation as payment for the wonderfully soothing class.

4. Do the Coogee to Bondi Walk

This popular, 6km coastal walk boasts incredible ocean views for as far as the eye can see. Tourist and locals alike are fascinated by the spectacular ocean views, sparkling bays, secret rock pools, stunning cliff top views and golden beaches they pass by on the famous Coogee to Bondi walk. Grab a coffee and soak up Aussie beach culture, by watching surfers catch an early wave on the 2-3 hour walk.

5. Have Brunch in Darling Harbour

Brunch - a late morning meal eaten instead of breakfast and lunch – is a popular Australian pastime that is widely enjoyed every Saturday morning. Some of the best hotspot for brunch remain in Sydney’s Darling Harbour, including; Pancakes on the Rocks, Antidote and Hive Café and Co. For an authentic Australian brunch try dishes such as smash avocado and feta on toast, stacks of blueberry pancakes and corn and zucchini fritters with bacon and eggs.

6. Visit Sea Life Sydney Aquarium

Sea Life Sydney Aquarium contains a large amount of Australian aquatic life, displaying more than 700 species and more than 13,000 sea and water creatures! A highlight of Sydney’s Sea Life Aquarium includes a feature of 2 friendly dugongs. This is a massive attraction, since there are only 5 Dugongs on display in the whole world! Perfect for a Saturday morning, you can spend hours wandering around the large aquarium admiring the sharks, stingrays, penguins and crocodiles and fish, or join a walking tour and watch a feeding time. 7. Get Fit at Climb Fit

Calling all thrill seekers! Sydney’s very own Luna Park is the perfect location for those looking for a day of fun. Located at Milsons Point, on the northern shore of Sydney Harbour, this iconic amusement park is filled with terrifying rides including The Wild Mouse Rollercoaster – a 61 second, pulse-pounding, nerve-shattering ride that dips and zips you around a 400-metre circuit high above Luna Park – and The Hair Raiser, which takes you 50 meters into the air before dropping you at over 80km an hour.
